Pilates improves postural alignment and provides a safe fitness option to increase flexibility, strength, and movement integration for people with back pain. I specialize in developing safe and enjoyable Pilates programs with appropriate exercise modification for clients who have a multitude of back care concerns. I am well versed in the movement indications, precautions, and contraindications back issues such as herniated disk(s), stenosis, hyper kyphosis, hyper lordosis, spondylolisthesis, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, osteoporosis, and general back pain.

I focus on the following principles when working with people who have back care concerns or general back pain: 

  • Breath and global expansion
  • Axial elongation and core control
  • Spinal articulation when and where appropriate
  • Organization of the head, neck, and shoulders
  • Alignment and weight bearing of the extremities
  • Movement integration
